About Me

Encore Living

Encore: Something that follows success. A second achievement especially that surpasses the first.

I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit!

My husband, Tom, and I, are living what I call an Encore Life, performing double duty as both parent and grandparent to our lovely granddaughters, Grace and Bella (their blogger names).

I'm a southern gal, and I prefer a tall glass of iced tea with lemon over a cup of coffee any day! I wish you could come over and enjoy a cold glass of tea with me.

We could sit on my back porch under my large green awning, watch the birds splash in the bath, and I could listen to your story.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of meeting dynamic caregivers of all types: grandparents raising their grandchildren, adult children caring for their aging parents, moms caring for their special needs kids, etc.

In fact, I couldn't believe how many of us there were! I'm amazed at their personal insights, challenges and victories they've experienced on their Encore journey. Their inspiration is what led me to start a blog, speak, and write about an Encore's life.

My desire is to encourage folks to bloom where they're planted, and not to give up on their dreams. (I almost did!) Caring for others can be a full time job. But it doesn't have to be your complete source of identity.

My husband and I have been Encore Parents for almost a decade now.

We've faced many challenges along the way.

But we wouldn't trade it for anything!

While you're here, I'd like to share glimpses of my own Encore Life with you, and to champion you in your Encore journey as well.

What's your story?
